ReportIs there Red Tide evident up at the Port Mansfield shoreline? How does it look for this weekend?
ReportNight fishing off a pier lets the fish come to you and if they don't it is a short walk to shore and check back later. That night the fish were there with lots of sand trout being caught, some flounder, and several keeper specks mixed in with lots of undersize. Catching was so good that we stayed on the pier until about 4 a.m. My guests from Alvin, TX really had a good time but the late night kept us from going out in the boat that day. We also caught lots of crabs off the pier with crab traps.
ReportJim Dailey, TX Parks & Wildlife, said that the red tide is gone. With about a foot of rain a couple weeks ago and with the north winds blowing there is no sign of red tide. Fishing reports from several fishermen confirm no recent sights in the Laguna Madre.
ReportMy friends and I are from Tulsa, OK and came to Port Mansfield for several days of fishing and stayed in the Pelican Point Condos rented from Glaze Realty. Though we have to return to our jobs inland, we want to let you know we had a great time fishing in Port Mansfield. Fishing with Don McWherter on the Rough 'n' Rowdy we went snapper fishing on Nov. 3 and limited out. It was too rough on Nov. 4 to go far offshore after marlin. We also had a good time fishing in the bay with fishing guides Terry Neal and Augie Monjaras.
ReportI was fishing with Carl Orlando, we were fishing the east cut area and we caught a lot of red fish on top waters, and few good trout mixed in with the reds. We also drifted the grass flats around the east cut late in the evening and picked up good trout on top waters. Saturday it was a bust wind blew 25 mph and higher but Friday was well worth the trip.
ReportI was fishing with Carl Orlando, we were fishing around the east cut working the grass flats with top waters, we had a full limit of reds and some pretty good trout. We also drifted the same area late in the evening and picked up some very good trout on top waters. Saturday, we just about did the same, except not as many trout.
ReportFished south of the East Cut in 3- 4 foot of water. Caught five keeper sized redfish using a Broken Back(chartruese/gold). Fish seem to be holding in deeper water.
ReportFishing off the Harbor,It was a full moon night Specks were under the light as well as Sand Trout. Using D.O.A shrimp as bait and speck rigs. But, the biggest thing happened the lights blackout. Towards the end I took home two 28 in. Trout and a ice chest full of Sand Trout.
ReportWe stayed in Port Mansfield for the weekend. I came from Washington State to fish with a friend from Austin, Texas. We had a perfect weekend. The weather was beautiful and the fishing was great too. We brought home four Red Fish and three trout. These were caught using live shrimp and top water lures. We could have caught more fish but we did some sight seeing by boat. I was surprised at all the porpoise or dolphins(?) that we saw. This was truely a trip to remember. Jim Decker Everett, Washington

ReportWhat a great web-site if it were promoted and utalized on a regular, timely basis. Don't really give a red-snapper 'bout what happened last year... want to know what's happening now. Have been coming to Mansfield for the past four years and regard the excursions as better than Christmas but it would be nice to get the latest on-line news. Some sort of a exit survey as provided by the hotel and rental units. A simple form that could be forwared back to this site via E/M. JC
