Nestled peacefully on the shores of the Laguna Madre

Once known only to the roaming Indian tribes, then by fishermen who have found the waters off this section of the south Texas coast to be especially productive. Port Mansfield is nestled peacefully on the shores of the Laguna Madre... only nine miles from the beauty and solitude of the South Padre Island National Seashore and Bird Sanctuary.

Discover the Thrills of Deep Sea Fishing...

By boat the Gulf of Mexico is only nine miles away and once through the Port Mansfield Channel you'll be able to go after the big ones: Sailfish, Marlin. Tarpon, Ling, Mackerel and Snapper. Port Mansfield can help make your fishing dreams come true.

"The Biggest Little Fishing Tournament on the Gulf Coast"

For over 40 years Port Mansfield has hosted its two-day fishing tournament in late July with Bay and Offshore divisions for adult and juniors. A piggy perch contest is held for children under 12. Rules and entry forms should be requested from the Port Mansfield Chamber of Commerce. This is a fund raising, volunteer event.

Fishing

Port Mansfield was once described by sportswriters as "one of the 10 best fishing areas in the country". Speckled trout, redfish, flounder and other fine eating and sport fish are usually plentiful. Wade fishing is often done right in town. Offshore fishing yields Spanish and king mackerel, tuna, grouper, snapper, dolphin, sailfish, sharks, big blue marlins, and other sport fish. A number of charter fishing guides are available.
